Tracey explains the background the the action, and where the process of funds distribution goes from here. It has been suggested that up to $800 million will be distributed among the northern stakeholders who took part in the claim.
A former chief executive officer of the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association, Tracey is regarded as a senior business and industry leader, having also previously served as chair of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation and as a Member of the Order of Australia Honours Council. She is a director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Northern Australia, sits on the board of the Australia Indonesia Institute and is a member of the advisory board of the National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency.

In this wide-ranging discussion, Blair shares their vision for the project, some innovative new practises he hopes to embed in its operations including a novel form of tenderstretching carcases, and the new business's focus on "the customer, rather than throughput." "If we wanted to chase throughput, we would very quickly sink into the commodity beef game, and that's a dangerous place to play," he says.

In this week's episode of The Weekly Grill podcast series, host Kerry Lonergan turns up the heat on nutrition scientist and MLA special skills board member, Manny Noakes.
Prof Noakes has spent 25 years as a researcher and director in nutrition and health at CSIRO. She has extensive knowledge in many fields of nutrition and health including the food regulatory system and ‘functional foods’, and the role of red meat in human nutrition and the environment. Manny was instrumental in the development of the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet, which positions red meat as part of a healthy diet for weight control.
In addition, she’s also a member of the National Committee for Nutrition for the Australian Academy of Sciences as well as being on its Expert Working Group Special Project: ‘Nourishing Australia: A decadal plan for nutrition science’.
In this week's podcast, she touches on a range of topics including common misconceptions about red meat nutrition, how red meat is presented in the national dietary guidelines, and her opinions about the emergence of plant-based proteins, often marketed as 'meat'.

The prospects for methane reduction from seaweed additives in stockfeed surfaced at a number of seminars held during Beef 2021 this week. In this Beef 2021 special episode of The Weekly Grill from Rockhampton, host Kerry Lonergan talks with one of the presenters, Dr Rob Kinley from Futurefeed, the company charged with commercialising the aspargopisis red seaweed product for commercial use. Trials have shown the additive, used in very small doses, can reduce emissions in feedlot cattle by 90pc.
